1.选C 根据“at a deserted bus stop ”和“catch the bus”可知,小个子的女士在等公共汽车。故选C。

.选D 根据最后一段倒数第二句“Dont go to the terminal because there’s nothing to see.”

.选A 根据第四段第二句“She seemed to well understand my pain.” 故选A。

根据“on his finger”可知,应选C。

.选A 根据单词“sympathy”和下一句“She seemed to well understand my pain.” 故选A。

故选A。

.选D leave sb. behind是固定搭配,意为“留下,丢弃”,此处表示“我们一到美国,他就怀着交好运的愿望抛弃了我们”,与下句“Yet how could I ________ my three children in a strange land, with no money, no relatives and a ________ heart?” 故选D。

故选A。
