体坛英语资讯:Valencia cruise into last 16 of Champions League

Valencia reached the last 16 of the Champions League this Wednesday with a decisive 6-1 over Turkish side Bursaspor.

Valencia went into the match as overwhelming favorites following a 4-0 in Turkey in the first group game of the campaign and that confidence quickly proved to be well founded as the home side cruised into an early lead.

Valencia coach Unai Emery was rewarded for aligning an attacking side including Juan Mata, Aritz Aduriz and Roberto Soldado when the trio all scored in the first half.

Bursaspur arrived in Valencia with no points and no goals scored from their first four group matches and things very quickly became complicated for them when Mata opened the scoring after 17 minutes from the penalty spot, following a foul on Aduriz.

Soldado added a second three minutes later from Mata’s cross from the left and Aduriz scored a third before the half hour from inside the six yard box as the visitors threatened to fall apart.

Winger Joaquin Sanchez made it 4-0 before halftime following an individual run and shot from the edge of the penalty area.

It was 5-0 ten minutes into the second of the half when Soldado netted his second of the night and although Batalla scored Bursaspor's first goal of the competition shortly afterwards, Chori Dominguez added a sixth for Valencia following another Mata pass with 12 minutes remaining.

The Spanish side now has to win away to Manchester United to finish top of Group C and avoid a more difficult rival in the last 16 of the competition.
